205 - The Island - Gamma Delta Chi

205 – The Island

The Island sits right next to the Pub and while not as large as the Pub is nicely situated away from the noise of the central stair.

Story from 2002:

When I, John Turner ’04, was living in the Pub my Sophomore summer in 2002, I was sitting at my desk and saw a large 300+ lb guy climbing out of the 2nd floor bathroom window.  This guy was a high school friend of my fraternity brother Mario Avila ’04.  We called Mario’s friend “Chief.”  He was a big guy that played Offensive Tackle somewhere.  The funny thing was that I had previously been in that bathroom and heard snoring, and when I looked over the bathroom wall, saw Chief passed out in the toilet snoring, so I decided to just leave him there.  Back in my room, I saw Chief had woken and decided to get some fresh air out of the bathroom window which was at least 15 feet over the stone entry way.  I jumped up and ran to the bathroom and fortunately was able to grab Chief before he pushed off the window ledge.  There was a small metal bar that ran from the wall out to the light that hangs over the entry way.  I grabbed Chief and told him to come inside. He told me to let him go, but I insisted he come inside.  So I pulled him inside and he stood up, walked back into the bathroom stall that he had been in before, closed the door, sat back down on the toilet, and went back to sleep.  I promptly locked the window and found Mario to tell him how his friend from home almost broke his neck.
